Order 4234 Lakewood "The Story Behind the Glory"
"The Oasis in the Desert of Detroit"
"You see the Castle, but do you really know my story?",
In this 1st volume of subsequent books to come, you will discover, even before the foundation of this “Promised Land” was laid, how I had to fight for what you are able to witness here at 4234 Lakewood today.
Some may look at the Castle as being just an elaborate, expensive piece of real estate. If one would take just a second they would see the hand of God cradling a man who had all the odds placed against him. Hope and inspiration should enter into one’s mindset.
In the harshest reality of trying to survive in Detroit, in the natural, my flesh dealt with some of the many adversities of life such as alcohol addiction, adultery, financial ruin, foreclosure, repossessions, utility shut offs, divorce and fornication.
Even though, in biblical terms of characters, my life mirrored the lives of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Noah, Joseph, Moses, David, Solomon, Elijah, Elisha, Daniel and Lazarus. I knew that I had to remain "Blessed with no Complaints".
As if I wasn’t already dealing with enough, the treatment that I received from the City felt like a continuous pouring of salt into the many open wounds in my life. On many occasions, I felt betrayed by a city that I loved so much. Not all city workers or elected officials are bad, you have some that are very nice and go out of their way to help. Then you have those that you receive the brutal and torturous treatment from, at least that’s what I experienced. The reason I described the treatment as such is because some of them do not care about the little people and I was one of them. There were times that I would simply pray for them by saying, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” Praying for them actually helped my healing process.
I will continue Rebuilding Detroit brick by brick,
